Job description

Job Duties / Responsibilities :

1. Must be able to work efficiently and accurately in a busy environment and be adaptable to change.
2. Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
3. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
4. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
5. Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
6. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
7. Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
8. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
9. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
10. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements :

1. 5 years of recent clinical laboratory experience.
2. Blood Bank experience is required.
3. Bachelor's Degree in a life science, laboratory science, or Medical Technology.
4. Must be ASCP certified as a Medical Technologist.
5. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
6. Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
7. High level of attention to detail, along with strong communication and organizational skills.
8. Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
9. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
