The Omega group in the Physics Department at BNL is looking for a mechanical technician to participate in the construction, installation, and commissioning of detectors for the ATLAS HL-LHC Upgrade and LBNF/DUNE. In this role, you will be collaborating with an international and multicultural scientific community and working closely with scientists, technicians, engineers, and students at BNL, domestic institutes, and international institutes such as at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Omega Group focuses on the ATLAS experiment at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. BNL is the host laboratory for the U.S. ATLAS Operations Program, the U.S. ATLAS HL-LHC Upgrade Project, an ATLAS Tier-1 computing facility, and is designated as part of the U.S. ATLAS Support Center. The group has leading roles in the ATLAS HL-LHC upgrade projects for the silicon-strip detector, liquid argon calorimeter readout, and trigger/data acquisition electronics and has strong R&D programs on trigger/data acquisition, high-performance computing, and silicon detectors. The group also contributes to the development and construction of the LBNF/DUNE detector in collaboration with the EDG Group in the Physics department.

Brookhaven National Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable, and competitive compensation. This is a multi-level role and the full salary range for this position is $84000 - $105000 / year. You will be placed at the level and salary commensurate with your experience. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification, education, and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
