Job summary

Merck in Durham, NC is seeking a Senior Technician, Operations for second shift (2:00pm-10:30pm) to support Drug Substance operations. You will perform aseptic gowning, operate and troubleshoot equipment, maintain records, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Requires GMP manufacturing experience or life science/engineering degree, strong communication, ability to lift 50 lbs, and familiarity with GDP/GMP practices. Eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive; comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of GMP manufacturing/processing experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or Engineering.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills.
• Must pass aseptic gowning qualifications (full coverage apparel).
• Computer literacy including browsers, email, spreadsheets, and word processing.
• Able to lift 50 lbs, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb ladders, and wear a respirator.

Responsibilities

• Support production team as operations expert on the shop floor.
• Create, review, and edit batch records, SOPs, job aides, training, and engineering documents.
• Identify and address compliance, environmental, safety, and process deviations with appropriate personnel.
• Participate in team meetings, kaizen events, and other operations/quality initiatives.
• Maintain equipment/process knowledge and detailed records.
