Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Technician for Facilities Maintenance on 2nd shift, onsite in Melbourne, FL. You will maintain electrical, HVAC, and fire protection systems to ensure safe, compliant facility operations and minimal downtime.

The role requires 4+ years of relevant experience, ability to read blueprints, and capability to work in industrial environments including confined spaces and heights. Shifts may include weekends and on-call as needed.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in industrial electrical systems, HVAC maintenance, and fire protection systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Availability to work in shifts, weekends, or on-call as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems.
  • Inspect and replace filters, belts, and other components to maintain optimal performance.
  • General maintenance: maintain fire protection systems including alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.
  • Respond to machine breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and facility maintenance standards.

Senior Technician, Facilities Maintenance – 2nd Shift (Onsite)

The Industrial Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical systems, HVAC systems, and fire protection equipment. This role ensures that all systems operate efficiently and comply with safety and regulatory standards. The technician will work closely with other teams to support facility operations and minimize downtime.

What You Will Do
  • Electrical Systems
    • Diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment and implement corrective measures.
    • Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • HVAC Systems
    • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation units.
    • Inspect and replace filters, belts, and other components to maintain optimal performance.
  • Fire Protection Systems
    • General understanding and maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems, such as alarms, sprinklers, and extinguishers.
  • General Maintenance
    • Perform routine preventative maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.
    • Respond to machine breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and facility maintenance standards.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in industrial electrical systems, HVAC maintenance, and fire protection systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various industrial settings, including confined spaces and heights.
  • Availability to work in shifts, weekends, or on-call as needed.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Relevant certifications such as EPA 608 (HVAC), NICET (fire protection), or journeyman electrician license are highly desirable.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and procedures for industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
