Job summary

RTX is seeking a maintenance technician for the 3rd shift (5x8: Sun–Thu, 11:15 p.m.–7:00 a.m.) in North Carolina. Responsibilities include routine machinery maintenance, troubleshooting assistance, fluid management, and CMMS documentation.

The role requires basic mechanical/electrical skills and OSHA safety familiarity. Preferred candidates have post-secondary maintenance education or 2–4 years of experience, with the ability to perform physical tasks and maintain safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with post-secondary education in maintenance or 2–4 years of equivalent maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with OSHA and general safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and assist technicians with troubleshooting.
• Maintain fluid levels, change filters, and manage fluids filtration equipment.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance such as turnarounds, cleaning, and removing debris from machines.
• Document work in CMMS and maintain shop floor records.
• Operate PIVs as required and keep EH&S/OSHA training up to date.
• Perform other duties as assigned and handle physical tasks including lifting and climbing.

Shift Details

This 3rd Shift position is (5x8), Sunday /Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday 11:15p.m. - 7:00a.m.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks related to preventive and corrective maintenance of machinery and equipment, and assist higher level technicians in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical services as required.
• Maintain fluid levels on machinery, change filters as needed, document and analyze fluid usage, operate and maintain fluids filtration equipment.
• Proactively perform basic equipment maintenance such as turnarounds, clean robot booths, remove swarf build up in machines, remove grinding grit and fragments from machines, empty and clean oil skimmers, clean and service parts washers, remove and replace de‑ionized water bottles.
• Perform administrative maintenance tasks and associated paperwork, monitor fluids, filters, and consumable inventories.
• Document work in SAP maintenance management suite (CMMS) and properly utilize the shop floor Andon system.
• Operate PIVs as required and maintain inspection records, follow safe work practices, and keep up to date on EH&S/OSHA training requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, climbing, standing, walking, twisting hands, working in a confined space and maintain a forklift license.

Qualifications You Must Have

• High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED) with post‑secondary education in maintenance, and/or 2‑4 years of equivalent maintenance experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
• Basic mechanical and electrical skill with a desire to pursue a career in the skilled trades field.
• Familiarity with OSHA and general safety practices.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Technical aptitude in basic mechanics, rigging, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum systems, electrical, automation, and PLC/CNCs.
• Capable of safely working on electrical systems up to 480V, instrumentation and control systems, and mechanical systems.
• MIG/TIG welding, fabrication, basic machining.
• Technical certifications or an associate’s degree in a maintenance‑related field.
