Job summary

ASR International seeks an experienced Senior Technical Writer to support the General Products and Security Branch for the U.S. GSA. The role focuses on technical writing, data validation, NSN updates, and standards-based documentation for a range of items from hardware to cleaning products.

Remote position with opportunities to support regulatory compliance and safety reporting. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in technical writing or related fields, familiarity with EDMS/PICS/FLIS, and HAZMAT

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in technical writing, engineering technical support, logistics, cataloging, supply acquisition, product research, or related experience.
Experience creating, updating, or validating Item Purchase Descriptions, Technical Information Reports, cataloging requests, or NSN-related technical records.
Knowledge of technical standards and references including ASME, ASTM, ANSI, SAE, FED-STD, MIL-STD, CID, QP4, and QPD.
Experience using or supporting data validation in systems such as EDMS, PICS, GSA Advantage, FLIS, and HMIRS.
HAZMAT certification or ability to support HAZMAT-certified personnel requirements for General Products and Security Branch work.
Ability to produce accurate, complete, professionally written technical documents free of spelling, technical, and grammatical errors.

Responsibilities

Create, update, and maintain Item Purchase Descriptions for General Products and Security Branch NSNs through research, writing, data entry, and documentation review.
Support annual NSN creation and update workload, not to exceed 1,440 NSNs annually, with an average of 120 NSNs per month.
Complete two-way Item Purchase Description updates within two weeks of receipt.
Determine labeling, packing, marking, and palletization requirements.
Research and apply applicable technical standards and references.
Review and validate data in EDMS, PICS, FLIS, and related systems.
Perform market research to identify manufacturer part numbers and supplier information.
Submit Cataloging and National Cataloging Action Log requests to add references and CAGE codes.
Determine, verify, and document salient characteristics and specification information for items.
Place Item Purchase Descriptions into EDMS with supporting documentation such as Safety Data Sheets and product data sheets.
Evaluate hazardous products for transportation requirements and assign Dangerous Article Codes.
Review Safety Data Sheets against current standards and route for HMIRS updates when required.
Review technical drawings and products against regulatory restrictions.
Prepare Cataloging and PICS update requests to update FLIS and PICS.
Provide technical feedback on business case analyses of AbilityOne submissions.
Prepare monthly progress reports covering NSNs received/completed, production plans, risks, and mitigations.
