Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Associate Technical Writer to lead the documentation for Medicare Part A, Part B, and DME contracts. This role supports CMS documentation across a complex systems environment and collaborates with engineering, development, and operations teams to ensure accurate, clear artifacts.

You will drive standards, templates, and a centralized repository, while producing onboarding materials, release notes, and knowledge-base content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus relevant IT/documentation experience.
• 2–5 years creating and maintaining technical docs in IT, software, or systems engineering.
• Ability to translate SME information into clear, accurate docs.
• Experience managing a documentation repository with Confluence, SharePoint, or Git-based systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead creation, organization, and maintenance of program documentation for CMS contracts.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly docs for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Maintain centralized document repository; ensure proper tagging, archiving, and access control.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, engineers, analysts, and operations staff to verify updates.
• Develop onboarding docs, training materials, release notes, and knowledge-base articles.
• Ensure documentation aligns with standards, templates, version control, and style guidelines.
• Assist with compliance documentation and artifact preparation for reviews and audits.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and release planning to anticipate documentation needs.
