Job summary

Lockheed Martin's Rotary Mission Systems Cyber & Intelligence seeks a Technical Writer Journeyman to support Cyberspace Operations and related planning. You will produce manuals, specifications, and procedure documents, translating complex tech into clear language for diverse stakeholders.

Requires TS/SCI with poly and a strong background in technical communications within cyber domains. The role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities to contribute to national security missions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 13 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's with 10 years, or a Master's with 8 years.
  • Experience with Document Control and Cyber Authoring Tools; ability to translate technical data into plain language.
  • Must possess a current US Security Clearance TS/SCI w/ poly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Cyberspace Operations Support Services aligned with core disciplines.
  • Coordinate and integrate operational planning for full-spectrum cyberspace operations.

THE WORK

The scope of this effort encompasses tasks that provide USCYBERCOM with the sustained ability to fulfill its mission to direct, synchronize, and coordinate cyberspace planning and operations to defend and advance national interests in collaboration with domestic and international partners. These tasks include coordinating, synchronizing, deconflicting, and integrating operational planning efforts for full-spectrum cyberspace operations. The anticipated award of this effort is Fall 2026.

Who You Are

As a Technical Writer Journeyman you will provide Cyberspace Operations Support Services (COSS) aligned with the following core disciplines: Cyberspace Operations, Cyberspace Planning, Cyberspace Training and Exercises, Strategy / Policy / Doctrine Development and Campaign, Assessments, Information Technology (IT) / Communications, Business Area Support and Project Management Engagement Activities.

You will provide the customer with the sustained ability to fulfill its mission to direct, synchronize, and coordinate cyberspace planning and operations to defend and advance national interests in collaboration with domestic and international partners. These tasks include coordinating, synchronizing, deconflicting, and integrating operational planning efforts for full-spectrum cyberspace operations.

You will meet the evolving cyberspace operations mission in support of the Joint warfighter.

Writes, in clear and concise language, such technical documents as procedure manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment. Includes writing such technical documentation as operational specifications, bulletins, articles, and marketing publications. Acquires or verifies knowledge of subject by interviewing workers engaged in developing new products and services or in making improvements, observing performance of experiments and methods of production, referring to blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings and notes, trade and engineering journals, rewrites of articles, bulletins, manuals, or similar publications.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma w/13 years of relevant experience is required OR Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Communications, English, Journalism, or related discipline from an accredited college or university w/10 years of relevant experience is required OR Master’s degree in Technical Communications, Communications, English, Journalism, or related discipline from an accredited college or university w/8 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience utilizing Document Control, Interpreting and Translating Technical Information into plain language prose, utilizing Cyber Authoring Tools, extracting, validating, and citing technical data, and applying relevant documentation standards.
  • Must possess a current US Security Clearance TS/SCI w/ poly
Desired Skills
  • Excellent written communication, editing, spelling, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to distill complex technical concepts into user-friendly language.
  • Familiarity with cyber-related terminology and concepts.
  • Proficiency with authoring and publishing tools
  • Knowledge of DoD/IC documentation standards and best practices.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $81500.00 - $151300.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
