Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 10+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience including Excess Liability and Umbrella.
• Strong technical underwriting expertise for complex casualty risks.
• Experience handling referrals, authority-based reviews, and guidance on complex issues.
• Knowledge of underwriting guidelines, regulatory compliance, audits, and quality review processes.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills with ability to influence decisions.
• Casualty reinsurance experience preferred; CPCU/ARM or similar designations a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical underwriting resource for field underwriters and branches.
• Review and respond to referrals involving complex risks, coverage, pricing, and exceptions.
• Provide clear approval recommendations and underwriting rationale.
• Collaborate with leadership to promote consistent practices and profitable growth.
• Analyze complex casualty exposures including auto, general liability, umbrella, and excess liability.
• Maintain and communicate underwriting guidelines and product knowledge.
• Support quality assurance through file reviews and audits.
• Assist with SOX compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Product Management, Claims, and Actuarial teams.
