Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Trainer to develop and conduct technical training programs ensuring safe and effective field performance. The role combines classroom and hands-on instruction with ongoing revisions of standards and procedures.

At Senior level, you will lead other trainers, coordinate resource allocation, and drive innovation in processes. Travel between MA/CT/NH is required, with a focus on quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of direct craft experience in Transmission, Distribution and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers and supervising employees.
  • Driver's License, DOT preferred.
  • Must be able to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and conducts technical training programs for Field Training, including classroom and on-the-job training.
  • Supervises, instructs and evaluates trainees; updates procedures and collaborates with vendors and engineers.
  • Serves as local technical lead/coach for other trainers and coordinates training program resources.
  • Leads testing and evaluation of new tools, materials, and equipment; participates in audits and certification activities.

Job description

This position develops and conducts technical training programs to ensure the safe and effective performance of the Field Training. Training includes both classroom and on-the-job training and would incorporate both conceptual and hands-on instructional methods. Responsibilities would also include participation in testing and evaluation of new tools, materials, and equipment, the ongoing revision and maintenance of standards and procedures, conducting of quality assurance audits and supervision evaluation and certification of field employees.

At the Senior Technical Trainer level, in addition to the above, responsibilities include:
  • Serving as the local technical lead or coach for other trainers.
  • Developing and coaching other trainers in various aspects of their role.
  • Authorizing re-allocation of resources in situations where conflicting priorities exist.
  • Driving innovation and change in business processes.
  • Leading area work center activities during manager absence.
  • Representing their manager at department, customer, and community meetings.
Essential Functions:
  • Works with Field Engineering and Field Communications personnel to analyze job tasks and current field performance to determine training needs and program content.
  • Effectively implements training programs and field quality audit programs.
  • Supervises, directs, and instructs trainees during classroom, hands-on and on-the-job training assignments.
  • Evaluates performance during training and follows up on students learning through field visits, observations, and refresher training.
  • Provides updates and incorporates new procedures and revisions into training programs and reviews work with vendors, technical experts, engineers, and field personnel to provide operational input into the selection and operation on new equipment and development of new construction standards.
  • Point person for coordination for training programs, scheduling of programs and oversight of technical trainers.
  • Deliver training as needed to support technical trainers.
  • Serving as the local technical lead or coach for other Trainers.
  • Developing and coaching other trainers in various aspects of their role.
  • Authorizing re-allocation of resources in situations where conflicting priorities exist.
  • Sets clear expectations and provides ongoing feedback to employees regarding their performance. Effectively addresses performance issues. Conducts comprehensive performance reviews (per applicable bargaining unit contract).
  • Responsible for the proper application of local union contracts and agreements. Works with managers and employees to resolve grievances and concerns in a timely and complete manner.
  • Responsibilities would also include participation in testing and evaluation of new tools, materials, and equipment, the ongoing revision and maintenance of standards and procedures.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:

Requires knowledge of utility transmission and distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards, and business processes.

Excellent communication skills, ability to present theory and concepts, as well as hands‑on technical instruction with clarity, confidence and enthusiasm.

Requires leadership and coaching abilities.

Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel).

Working knowledge of labor contracts.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience :

Minimum of ten (10) years of direct craft experience in Transmission, Distribution and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers and supervising employees and experience as a supervisor.

Licenses & Certifications:
  • Driver's License, D.O.T. preferred.
Working Conditions:

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH, as necessary.

$139,950.00-$155,500.00
