Descrição da oferta de emprego

Are you an experienced IT professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with a variety of technologies, and making a meaningful impact? Larimer County is seeking a Senior Technical Support Specialist to join our IT Device Services team.

Our team supports the technology County employees rely on every day to serve our community. From computers and mobile devices to enterprise printing, telecommunications, audio/visual systems, and other workplace technologies, we help ensure employees have reliable tools to perform their work effectively.

In this role, you'll combine advanced technical expertise with project coordination, technology lifecycle management, and operational support. You'll have opportunities to own challenging assignments, contribute to technology initiatives, and help shape solutions that support County operations.

About Our Team

Device Services is a customer-focused team within Larimer County's Information Technology department. We work in a collaborative environment that values teamwork, accountability, initiative, and knowledge sharing.

We encourage new ideas, continuous learning, and professional growth. Our team members bring different strengths and experiences, and we believe that sharing those perspectives helps us deliver better service to our customers.

This is a full-time, in-office position with a regular Monday through Friday schedule. Employees are expected to work on-site during their scheduled hours.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing professional, responsive, and customer-focused technical support to County employees. Communicate clearly, manage expectations, take ownership of issues, and ensure timely follow-through and resolution.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and peripheral issues using advanced troubleshooting techniques, diagnostic tools, and remote support technologies.
  • Troubleshooting wireless connectivity, network access, and performance issues. Perform initial diagnostics and collaborate with Infrastructure teams when issues require advanced network configuration or administration.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining analog and VoIP phones, communication equipment, video conferencing technologies, and integrated audio/visual systems.
  • Assist with software installations, upgrades, system maintenance, licensing compliance, and administration of supported technology services to ensure reliability, security, and functionality.
  • Plan and participate in technology implementations, equipment replacements, system upgrades, and cross-functional projects involving County departments, IT teams, and external vendors.
  • Supporting equipment lifecycle management, inventory accuracy, purchasing, hardware and software standards, and technology replacement planning.
  • Research and recommend hardware, software, and technical solutions based on customer needs, compatibility, performance requirements, and County technology standards.
  • Serve as a technical resource for team members, share knowledge, develop support documentation, and collaborate with IT teams to resolve complex issues and improve service delivery.
  • Working on cross-functional teams to implement automated solutions; may be asked to act as a subject matter expert regarding the 'support and training' perspective for a development and software implementation effort.
  • Presenting and updating project status and/or solutions to team members, management, and supervisors.
What we're looking for:
  • Customer Service Excellence: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide professional, responsive, and solution-oriented support while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and diagnostic skills to identify, investigate, and resolve complex hardware, software, connectivity, and technology-related issues.
  • Broad Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with enterprise IT environments, including Windows operating systems, computers, peripherals, networking fundamentals, wireless connectivity, telecommunications, and audio/visual technologies.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to evaluate technical challenges, identify practical solutions, exercise sound judgment, and make informed recommendations.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with colleagues, other IT teams, County departments, and external vendors to accomplish shared goals.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Willingness to share knowledge, provide technical guidance, support peers, and contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Organization and Project Coordination: Ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate technical activities, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to projects while meeting established deadlines.
  • Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Initiative to stay current with evolving technologies, learn new systems, and adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Accountability and Initiative: Demonstrates ownership of assigned work, follows through on commitments, proactively identifies opportunities for improvement, and maintains a high standard of service.
  • When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

We encourage you to apply if you meet the minimum qualifications and believe your skills and perspective can add value to this position.

  • Five (5) years of experience in information systems and technology, a directly related field, or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
  • Associate's degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, or Information Systems, required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
