Description

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to own and drive the program lifecycle for our satellite customer terminal product portfolio. In this role, you will manage large, complex cross-functional technology initiatives from concept through delivery and continued innovation. You might start your day assessing hardware, software, and supply chain risks across the customer terminal portfolio, then transition into a cross-functional alignment session with engineering, finance, and business development on the quarterly hardware roadmap. Later, you could be presenting launch readiness status to senior leaders or driving the technical execution plan for new product features through the PFR process alongside PMT teams. You'll synthesize inputs from ASIC, antenna, embedded software, and manufacturing teams into a roadmap narrative for leadership.

This role requires both strategic thinking and tactical execution — you will define program strategy while also rolling up your sleeves to drive delivery across multiple teams within a VP organization.

Key job responsibilities

Program Ownership & Strategy

  • Own the technical program lifecycle for satellite customer terminals, managing the full program lifecycle from concept through design, build, launch, continued innovation, and eventual deprecation

  • Drive the quarterly hardware roadmap process across 10+ product lines, synthesizing inputs from engineering, finance, and business development into a prioritized view of product timelines, tradeoffs, and dependencies

  • Define and own the program mission, vision, and tenets; set objectives and drive improvements quantified with metrics

  • Be accountable for overall program strategy, driving teams inside and outside the organization toward shared goals

Execution & Delivery

  • Identify, quantify, and drive mitigation of schedule, supply chain, and technical risks from development through end-of-life

  • Unblock teams and increase speed of delivery by negotiating resources and priorities across organizations

  • Make trade-offs between short-term needs and long-term architectural health, using strong technical judgment to question proposals and test assumptions

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks; find a path forward in ambiguous situations with limited guidance

  • Oversee rollout processes including test and deployment to Beta/Production, and manage post-launch support plans

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate across Leo, Lab126, eero, and Amazon partner teams to ensure hardware product readiness aligns with customer deployment timelines

  • Write effective Amazon 6-pager narratives and present to Directors and VPs; communicate progress and outcomes against measurable success criteria

  • Foster constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and lead resolution of contentious issues to build consensus

  • Partner with Product Management to translate feature priorities into technical program plans, ensuring engineering teams have clarity on scope, sequencing, and dependencies

Rhythm of Business & Operational Excellence

  • Own the rhythm of business for CT Product. Drive MBRs, QBRs, and OP planning cycles to maintain organizational alignment on goals, metrics, and resource allocation

  • Drive system performance KPIs and product launch readiness milestones through dashboards and reporting, ensuring alignment across hardware, software, and customer experience teams

  • Manage CapEx/OpEx budget alignment and coordinate financial inputs across program milestones and product launches

  • Streamline and eliminate excess process; create predictable process paths that increase team productivity and effectiveness

Technical Leadership

  • Understand the systems in the CT product/program space, including system limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind architectural decisions

  • Influence system owners and architecture decisions; drive simplification and efficiency in existing engineering to unblock innovation

  • Ensure dependencies are managed and teams are decoupled where appropriate to eliminate architecture problems that stifle innovation or cause outages

  • Be data-driven in all decisions; influence team technical priorities and business strategy through data-driven contributions

  • Set a great example of program management best practices for others

Export Control Requirement

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
