Job summary

Xsolla Inc. is seeking a technical product manager to own the recommendation engine for its advertising products, guiding ranking, relevance, and model roadmap. You will define objectives, constraints, and guardrails, and align metric definitions with the team and stakeholders.

You will collaborate with ML/DS teams on experiments, readouts, and business implications, translating complex analytics into actionable product decisions that maximize eCPM and publisher value.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in product management and 3+ years owning a recommendation, ranking, personalization, or relevance system in production.
• Deep understanding of experiment design and inference, including MDE, power, sample-ratio-mismatch, A/A testing, multiple-comparison correction, and pre-registration.
• Working knowledge of modelling: classification/regression, probability calibration, predicted conversion rate, and objective effects.
• Hands-on experience with ML and data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Spark, Airflow, dbt, MLFlow, Vertex AI, and feature stores.
• Proven track record moving model changes into production traffic via controlled experiments, not dashboards.
• Knowledge of performance advertising economics and ad tech ecosystems (eCPM, RPU, bid multipliers, campaigns, attribution).
• SQL you write yourself and ability to read code to verify claims.
• Excellent written communication and stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own the recommendation engine as a product: ranking, relevance, and the model roadmap.
• Set the objective the ranker optimizes for, constraints, guardrails and kill conditions.
• Own the metric definitions the team uses, resolving definitional questions.
• Collaborate on ML frameworks, experiment design, hold-outs, pre-registered rules, and validation checks.
• Collaborate with DS on readouts to evaluate model performance and communicate to business stakeholders.
• Contribute ranking perspective to the ads roadmap, coordinating pricing, identity and telemetry.
