Job summary

RLI Corporation is seeking a Technical Claim Director for the Major Case Unit to oversee high-exposure general liability claims across the United States on a hybrid schedule. You will manage claim handling, coverage analysis, and litigation with defense counsel, while coordinating with underwriting on trends affecting product lines.

The role requires a JD and extensive experience in GL claims; travel for mediations/trials is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant legal or insurance experience with general liability claims.
• Juris Doctorate with relevant coverage or defense litigation experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Handle high-exposure, complex bodily injury and property damage claims nationwide (excl. NY).
• Evaluate claims and set resolution strategies, including mediations and trials in complex claims.
• Select and direct defense counsel on litigated cases and coordinate with Underwriting on trends.
