Job summary

Concepts NREC in Hartford, VT is seeking a Senior Technical Buyer to lead end-to-end sourcing for engineering and manufacturing projects. You will manage supplier selection, negotiations, purchase orders, and expediting to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with quality requirements.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance to convert requirements into supplier commitments while optimizing cost, lead times, and risk in a low-volume/high-mix environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive purchasing, sourcing, planning, or supplier-management experience in a manufacturing or project-oriented technical environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, GD&T.
• Hands-on ERP/MRP experience including PO administration, supplier negotiations, quote analysis, and expediting.
• Strong negotiation and clear communication of procurement risks to stakeholders.
• Experience in turbomachinery, aerospace, or regulated industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned purchases from requisition through supplier selection, PO placement, delivery, and closeout.
• Source raw materials, machined components, fabricated parts, hardware, equipment, and services.
• Review drawings, BOMs, MRP requirements, project schedules, GD&T, and quality clauses before supplier commitment.
• Prepare RFQs, evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing/terms, and recommend awards.
• Issue and administer purchase orders and subcontracts per procedures and contract requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, onboard, and manage suppliers meeting technical, quality, delivery, capacity, and commercial needs.
• Monitor supplier delivery, quality, cost, and capacity; coordinate mitigations for underperformance.
• Maintain open-order commitments, expedite shortages, and communicate supply risks.
• Coordinate supplier quality issues with Quality and Engineering, including containment and corrective actions.
• Support and help manage the QMS, supplier quality records, audits, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain ERP/MRP data and procurement records for traceability and audit readiness.
• Support cost analysis, make/buy evaluations, supplier negotiations, and risk identification.
