Job summary

On-Demand Group is seeking an experienced Senior BA/QA to join a healthcare eligibility product team in a hybrid role. You will blend business analysis with hands-on QA, use SQL/EDI/ETL testing, and lead testing efforts across the product team.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior BA/QA to join a healthcare Eligibility product team. This is a true hybrid role combining Business Analysis and hands-on Quality Assurance, with a strong emphasis on healthcare payer data, eligibility, and testing.

This person will gather and clarify business requirements while also owning testing activities across the product team. The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare payer experience, understands eligibility and benefit-related processes, and is comfortable testing complex data flows using SQL, EDI, ETL, APIs, and other testing methods.

As a senior member of the team, you will also provide QA leadership, mentor onsite and offshore team members, establish testing best practices, and partner closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Scrum team members, automation teams, and other stakeholders.

This is not a role for someone who wants to operate exclusively as a BA or solely as a test coordinator. We are looking for someone comfortable moving between requirements, data analysis, hands-on testing, QA leadership, and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, document, and clarify business and functional requirements.
• Identify gaps and ambiguity in requirements and proactively work with stakeholders to resolve them.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, scripts, and procedures.
• Perform hands-on functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate complex data using SQL and data-driven testing techniques.
• Support testing across EDI, ETL, APIs, UI, and integrated systems.
• Lead testing activities for the product team and coordinate QA efforts across dependent teams.
• Mentor and provide direction to QA team members, including offshore resources.
• Partner closely with onsite and offshore coordinators to ensure appropriate test coverage.
• Establish and promote QA standards, processes, and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing through automation and improved processes.
• Define automation requirements and leverage existing automation suites.
• Advocate for appropriate test coverage across both horizontal and vertical business processes.
• Manage and monitor defects through resolution.
• Develop and maintain regression suites.
• Collect and report QA KPIs and quality metrics.
• Influence day-to-day decisions around testing priorities, team capacity, velocity, coverage, and risk.
• Partner with the broader BA/QA practice, automation teams, product teams, and vendor partners.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong experience operating in a combined Business Analyst and Quality Assurance capacity.
• Experience gathering, analyzing, and clarifying business requirements.
• Strong hands-on QA experience developing and executing test strategies, plans, cases, and scripts.
• Strong data analysis and testing skills, including experience with SQL.
• Experience performing functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Ability to identify requirement ambiguity and proactively work with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Scrum Masters, and other stakeholders to resolve it.
• Experience with defect management and test management tools.
• Experience developing and executing regression suites.
• Experience working within Agile product teams.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to other QA resources.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong healthcare payer industry experience.
• Direct experience supporting healthcare eligibility products or processes.
• Strong experience with EDI, ETL, API, and/or UI testing, with deep expertise in at least two of these areas.
• Experience testing healthcare EDI transactions, particularly 835, 820, and 837 files.
• Understanding of healthcare benefit plan testing.
• Strong SQL, data validation, and ETL testing experience.
• Experience leading offshore QA resources.
• Experience defining requirements for test automation and utilizing automation suites.
• Experience defining, collecting, and reporting QA KPIs and quality metrics.
• Experience performing multiple roles within a product or Scrum team.

The strongest candidate will bring a combination of healthcare payer knowledge, Business Analysis skills, and deep hands-on QA experience.

We are particularly interested in someone who understands healthcare eligibility and complex data flows and can go beyond basic functional testing. You should be comfortable digging into SQL and data, validating integrations, testing EDI/ETL/API processes, and understanding how information moves across systems.

This person also needs to be a leader within the product team. You should be comfortable directing testing activities, mentoring offshore resources, challenging unclear requirements, identifying gaps in coverage, and influencing what the team should prioritize next.
