Job description

Senior Technical Artist - Tools & Pipeline

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Senior Technical Artist with a focus on Tools and Pipelines to join our studio for Project Orion, the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. In this role, you will contribute to the research and development of our in-house tools and pipeline solutions to meet our creative and technical goals.

Daily Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with designers, artists, and developers to understand their needs and ensure the tools and pipelines support their workflows.
  2. Extend and enhance Digital Content Creation applications such as Maya, MotionBuilder, or other DCC tools.
  3. Ensure tools scale efficiently without sacrificing performance, maintaining smooth workflows.
  4. Write high-quality, optimized, bug-free code aligned with project goals.
  5. Prototype, research, extend, and integrate in-house tools and third-party solutions for content development teams.
  6. Provide documentation, training, and guidance for development teams.
  7. Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure tools and pipelines contribute effectively to all game systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. At least 5 years of professional experience as a tools & pipeline developer or technical artist in the game or film industry.
  2. Strong experience in C++, C#, and/or Python for tool/plugin development and scripting.
  3. Familiarity with content creation software such as Blender, Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter.
  4. Understanding of content creation processes and supporting diverse content development teams.
  5. Experience creating, extending, and maintaining APIs for co-developers.
  6. Familiarity with application interoperability development.
  7. Experience with network automation, batching, and environment setups.
  8. Creative and strategic thinking to solve technical challenges and innovate.
  9. Ownership, goal-setting, knowledge sharing, and independent initiative driving.
  10. Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with procedural content systems.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design patterns.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5.
  • Content performance and memory optimization skills.

This role can be fully remote from the USA or Canada.
