Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking a senior accounting professional in the United States to research and advise on GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters. You will prepare comprehensive technical memos, analyses, and presentations and collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues.

You will also assist with the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness, act as backup for the financial reporting team, and support internal controls and SOX compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred.
• 6+ years of growing responsibilities and related experience; public accounting experience is a plus.
• Careful attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a multi-priority, fast-paced environment and successfully implement change.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with Workiva is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Research and advise on technical accounting topics, including GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters.
• Prepare comprehensive technical memos, analyses, and presentations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness.
• Operate as backup support for the financial reporting team.
• Support internal controls and SOX compliance initiatives.
• Facilitate coordination with internal and external counsel, as well as external auditors.
