Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance seeks a Senior Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite Middle Market technology accounts within authority, using data-driven decisions and knowledgeable judgment. You will assess software, cloud, data centers, consulting, IP, and related tech risks while balancing growth and profitability.

You will mentor junior underwriters, work with cross-functional teams, and maintain strong broker/client relationships to identify opportunities and ensure portfolio quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
• 2.5+ years of progressive underwriting experience and/or related experience.
• CPCU or professional designation preferred.
• Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks with qualitative/quantitative tools.
• Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites Middle Market technology accounts within established authority.
• Evaluates technology-sector exposures including software, cloud, data centers, IP, consulting, and other tech risks.
• Manages brokers and clients, developing market relationships and new business opportunities.
• Underwrites new business, renewals, and changes using financials, exposure, loss history and risk controls.
• Monitors portfolio performance, pricing adequacy, regulatory developments, and loss trends.
• Contributes to product development and process improvements across departments.
• Mentors junior underwriters and new hires; no direct management responsibility.
