Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance Senior Underwriter evaluates and underwrites Middle Market technology accounts with data-driven analysis of risk, pricing, and coverage within established authority. This role focuses on software, cloud, data centers, IP, and related technology risks.

You will manage broker and client relationships, support portfolio growth, and collaborate across Claims, Actuarial, Risk Engineering, Product, and Distribution teams to balance profitability with market needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
• Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks and use qualitative and quantitative tools.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites Middle Market technology accounts within established authority, making analytical, data-driven decisions on risk selection, coverage, terms, conditions, and pricing with limited guidance from leadership.
• Evaluates technology-sector exposures, including software and technology services, cloud computing, data centers, telecommunications, tech consulting, IP, professional services, and other complex risks.
• Manages a portfolio of brokers, agents, and clients by developing market relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and representing Liberty Mutual in the marketplace.
• Underwrites new business, renewals, and account changes by analyzing financials, exposure data, loss history, risk controls, valuations, and evolving tech dependencies.
• Monitors portfolio performance, pricing adequacy, regulatory developments, and loss trends; recommends actions to support profitable growth and portfolio quality.
• Mentors junior underwriters and new hires by sharing expertise in technology risks, underwriting practices, systems, and market dynamics.
