Job summary

University of New Hampshire's UNH Innovation seeks a Senior Technology Licensing & Commercialization Manager to advance university research, inventions, and IP toward practical applications. You will independently manage a diverse portfolio from disclosure through licensing, startup formation, and post-transaction stewardship.

Working with faculty, industry partners, and counsel, you will craft commercialization strategies, lead licensing transactions, and build durable external relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, science, engineering, law, technology, or closely related field.
• At least five years of relevant professional experience in technology transfer, licensing, commercialization, business development, intellectual property, industry partnerships, biotechnology, engineering, or a related area.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating technical opportunities and identifying feasible commercial pathways.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating, structuring, or managing technology-related agreements or business transactions.
• Experience building productive relationships with companies, entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, attorneys, or other external stakeholders.
• Strong written, oral, analytical, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects, deadlines, priorities, and stakeholders while exercising sound judgment.
• Ability to handle confidential, sensitive, export-controlled, proprietary, and commercially significant information with integrity and discretion.
• Ability to translate complex scientific or technical concepts into clear commercial opportunities for varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead or substantially support licensing, transactions, and IP strategy.
• Develop deal structures balancing university and inventor interests with market realities.
• Coordinate patent filing, prosecution, and maintenance strategies.
• Monitor licensee performance, milestones, and obligations; resolve issues or escalate as needed.
• Identify and engage prospective licensees, partners, startups, and investors.
• Represent UNH Innovation at industry events and cultivate external relationships.
