Job summary

J T is seeking a Manufacturing Technical Engineering Manager in Seymour, CT, to lead the Technical Documentation & SMT Programming teams within a high-mix electronics contract manufacturing environment. The role bridges design data with floor-ready manufacturing execution, ensuring BOMs, Gerber, CAD, centroid data, and SMT programs are accurate and released on time.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in EMS/SMT, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of PCBA processes, IPC‑A‑610, and MRP/ERP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred; equivalent electronics manufacturing/SMT programming experience considered.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive engineering experience within electronics contract manufacturing (EMS), technical documentation, SMT programming, or manufacturing engineering.
• Demonstrated supervisory or technical team leadership experience.
• Deep experience in high-mix, low-to-medium volume PCBA production environments.
• Hands-on proficiency with SMT machine programming software, and direct experience on FUJI SMT equipment (FUJI NXT III) preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of electronic components, packages, polarity standards, and reference designators.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversee Technical Engineering, Document Control, and SMT Programming teams.
• Establish workflows, quality metrics, and cross-training to reduce single-person dependencies.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, Quality Assurance, Program Management, and Planning to align data readiness with build schedules.
• Oversee intake, conversion, validation, and release of customer data packages (BOM, Gerber, CAD layouts, centroid files).
• Manage SOPs, shop-floor work instructions, and ERP/MES data (Infor, Aegis MES).
• Own SMT programming for FUJI NXT III platforms and maintain placement programs.
• Audit and approve ECOs, ensure part and drawing revisions are synchronized.
• Provide on-floor engineering support during FAI and NPI activities.
