Job summary

RLI Insurance Company is seeking an experienced claims professional to proactively manage professional liability claims, including MPL and E&O matters, with emphasis on fair, expeditious resolutions.

You will assess coverage issues, conduct timely investigations, and maintain reserves while coordinating with underwriters and clients. A law degree or litigation background is highly valued, with a strong focus on expert communication and risk transfer strategies.

Qualifications

• Meaningful experience handling professional liability claims with significant exposure under professional liability policies.
• Proactive investigation, risk transfer, claim handling, attorney management, and claims resolution are essential.
• Superior writing and communication skills to work effectively with insureds, claimants, underwriters, and upper management.

Responsibilities

• Proactively handle professional liability claims primarily involving MPL litigation to achieve optimum payout results.
• Assess and analyze coverage issues on claims and issue appropriate coverage letters and documentation.
• Complete timely investigation of claims and post appropriate reserves.
• Pursue risk transfer opportunities, including dealing with contractual indemnity and additional insured issues.
• Handle claims in accordance with RLI's Best Practices.
• Travel to and attend mediations, settlement conferences, and/or trials as warranted.
