Job summary

RLI Insurance Company in the United States seeks an experienced professional liability claims attorney to proactively handle MPL litigation, including E&O, and to achieve fair and economical outcomes.

Must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field with 5+ years of claims experience; JD preferred. You will assess coverage, investigate promptly, manage risk transfer, and attend mediations or trials as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience handling professional liability claims with exposure under professional liability policies.
• Strong written and verbal communication, reporting, and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of case law, statutes, and procedures impacting claims value.

Responsibilities

• Proactively handle MPL claims including Errors and Omissions (E&O) to achieve fair, expeditious, and economical resolutions.
• Assess coverage issues on claims and issue appropriate coverage letters and documentation.
• Complete timely investigation of claims and post appropriate reserves.
• Pursue risk transfer opportunities, including dealing with contractual indemnity and additional insured issues.
• Handle claims in accordance with RLI's Best Practices.
• Travel to and attend mediations, settlement conferences, and/or trials as warranted.
