Qualifications

• The mentor must be a current Boone County teacher with demonstrated superior performance.
• Minimum five years of successful teaching experience aligned with WVDOE mentoring guidance.
• Possesses a WV teaching certificate appropriate for the position.
• Shows strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and classroom management.
• Experienced in using student achievement data to guide instruction.
• Demonstrates leadership, collaboration, and professional communication skills.
• Maintains confidentiality and professional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Meet regularly with the assigned teacher to provide guidance and discuss responsibilities.
• Provide ongoing mentoring and professional support throughout the semester.
• Help the teacher understand district policies and expectations.
• Share instructional strategies, resources, and best practices.
• Observe classrooms, model practices, and offer job-shadowing experiences.
• Assist in analyzing student achievement data to inform decisions.
• Ensure professional feedback and reflective practices are provided.
