Job summary

Boone County Schools seeks a dedicated Teacher Mentor to support newly hired and beginning teachers in Madison Middle School and surrounding assignments. Qualifications

• Current Boone County Schools teacher.
• Five years of successful teaching experience.
• Valid West Virginia teaching certificate for the position.
• Superior performance and competence as an educator.
• Record of effective evaluations and classroom performance.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, student engagement and teaching practices.
• Ability to analyze student achievement data to guide instruction.
• Effective teacher leadership, communication, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal/listening skills and ability to engage teachers in reflective conversations.
• Ability to build positive professional relationships with students, staff, families and administrators.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Meet regularly with the assigned teacher to provide guidance and discuss responsibilities.
• Provide ongoing mentoring and professional support throughout the semester.
• Assist the teacher in understanding policies, procedures and district programs.
• Share successful instructional strategies, resources, and best practices.
• Offer classroom observations, modeling and job-shadowing experiences.
• Assist in analyzing student achievement and using data to guide instructional decisions.
• Provide guidance on lesson planning, pacing, standards and assessment practices.
• Encourage reflective professional practice and growth.
• Maintain regular communication and confidentiality as required.
