Job summary

Kemper CPA Group LLP in Merced, California, is seeking a Tax Manager with strong leadership of tax engagements and client service. The role requires at least 5 years of supervisory tax experience in public accounting and the ability to coach staff and manage deadlines.

You will prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, supervise staff, and contribute to firm growth while maintaining professional standards. Some overtime may be expected during peak seasons.

Qualifications

• CPA designation with a minimum of 5 years of tax supervisory experience in public accounting.
• Ability to coordinate staff and manage client expectations, including planning, issue resolution, and outcome measurement.
• Experience producing budgets for engagements and overseeing projects and staff.
• Strong technical tax knowledge and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or review federal, state, local, and special tax returns by collecting, analyzing, and formatting financial information; ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare and/or review financial statements, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintain professional standards and knowledge through ongoing education and industry trends.
• Contribute to firm success by promoting efficient engagement execution and cultivating client relationships.
• Promote the firm through involvement in professional, civic, or charitable organizations.
• Manage assigned book of business within budgeted revenue and realization expectations.
• Develop and coach staff; support staff development and performance management.
• Additional duties as assigned.
