PKF O’Connor Davies in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Tax Manager or Director for Private Client Services to provide tax compliance, planning, and consulting for high-net-worth individuals and families.

The role emphasizes strategic advisory leadership, managing engagements, mentoring staff, and building enduring client relationships while staying current on tax law changes and collaborating with partners on growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting required.
• Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credentials required.
• 7–10+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting focusing on high-net-worth individuals/family offices/private client services.
• Deep technical expertise in individual, partnership, trust, and estate taxation.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite and tax research platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage tax compliance and consulting engagements for high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and closely held entities.
• Review complex tax returns (1040, partnerships, S-corporations, trusts, estates, gift tax).
• Provide advanced tax planning strategies related to income, estate, gift, and wealth transfer taxes.
• Build and maintain strong long-term client relationships as primary contact.
• Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide proactive advisory services.
• Manage, mentor, and develop tax supervisors and staff; review work and provide guidance.
• Collaborate with partners on practice development and client growth initiatives.
• Participate in business development activities, including networking and client presentations.
• Stay current on tax law changes and ensure regulatory compliance.
