Job summary

PayPal is seeking a Tax Counsel - Information Reporting to join its in-house tax team. This senior role will ensure compliance with information reporting and withholding rules (FATCA, CRS, CARF, 1099) across global products and processes.

You will collaborate with product, finance, and legal partners to assess new products, draft policy requirements, and mitigate tax risk while supporting system enhancements and global filings. Strong JD and bar admission required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant tax experience and a JD degree or foreign equivalent.
• Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage significant tax matters.

Responsibilities

• Advise on complex tax issues affecting business operations, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
• Develop and document technical tax analyses supporting planning strategies, reporting positions, audit defense, and regulatory compliance.
• Partner directly with business units and Finance leadership to structure initiatives in a tax-efficient and compliant manner.
• Identify tax risk exposures and recommends mitigation strategies consistent with PayPal’s overall risk tolerance.
• Coordinates with outside advisors where appropriate and manages discrete external engagements.
• May mentor junior attorneys or legal professionals and contribute to knowledge development within the tax function.
