Job summary

RSM US LLP in Omaha, NE seeks a Tax Controversy/IRS Practice and Procedure professional to advise clients and internal teams on IRS issues, including examinations, penalties, interest abatements, and Private Letter Rulings.

You will collaborate with firm specialists across tax areas, travel to client sites as needed, and participate in trainings; hybrid work model; CPA licensure eligibility and 2+ years tax experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university.
• CPA licensure eligibility in the state of residence or completion of Bar exam requirements by start date.
• Minimum of two years of tax experience.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Research, address, and consult on technical issues specific to IRS practice and procedural issues including tax, penalty and interest assessments, statutes of limitations for refunds and assessments, missed elections, and IRS examination and IRS appeals matters.
• Prepare written communications to the IRS regarding penalty abatement requests.
• Working on the IRS account issues, corrections and reconciliations.
• Prepare Private Letter Ruling Requests.
• Work with other specialty groups on issues that intersect with other technical matters such as corporate taxation, partnerships, international tax, mergers and acquisitions.
• Participate in firm trainings.
