Job summary

RSM US LLP in Sioux Falls is seeking a Tax Controversy/IRS Practice professional to advise clients and internal teams on IRS procedural and controversy matters. You will consult across the firm on a wide range of tax controversy issues and work with other specialty groups as needed.

The role requires CPA licensure eligibility or Bar exam readiness by start date, at least two years of tax experience, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university.
Will have completed all educational requirements for CPA licensure eligibility in the state in which you'll reside or completed all requirements to sit for the Bar exam by start date.
Minimum of two years of tax experience.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within deadlines and standards.

Responsibilities

Research, address, and consult on technical issues related to IRS practice and procedural issues including tax, penalty and interest assessments, statutes of limitation for refunds and assessments, missed elections, and IRS examination and appeals matters.
Prepare written communications to the IRS regarding penalty abatement requests.
Work on IRS account issues, corrections and reconciliations.
Prepare Private Letter Ruling Requests.
Collaborate with other specialty groups on issues intersecting with corporate taxation, partnerships, international tax, mergers and acquisitions.
Participate in firm trainings.
