Job summary

The Dougherty County Tax & Tag Department is seeking a Senior Tax Clerk (Tax Collections) to collect Ad Valorem taxes and assist customers with questions on tax maps, homestead applications, address changes, homestead audit letters, and property owner information. The role requires working under general supervision, developing work methods independently.

Responsibilities include handling cash drawer duties, preparing tax bills and notices, data entry for taxpayers, and various clerical tasks

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of relative administrative and cashiering experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects taxes and is accountable for a cash drawer.
• Prepares tax bills, levy notices, correspondences, and other documents for mailing or filing with Clerk of Court.
• Codes and enters data into the computer relating to taxpayers reporting forms and returns.
• Performs varied clerical duties including filing, typing, copying, and answering telephones.
• Assists the public with use of tax maps and with homestead, real estate, ownership, values and tax amounts.
