Join Our Team at Alluvial

At Alluvial Tax & Planning , tax professionals are trusted advisors, not just tax preparers. At Alluvial Private Wealth, we provide planning & wealth management advice to help clients realize their most important life goals. Our sister firms work closely with individuals, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations to provide proactive planning and personalized financial guidance.

Position Overview

Alluvial Private Wealth is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our growing team in a unique, year-round role that brings together tax expertise and financial planning. During tax season, this position will primarily focus on tax preparation and planning, working directly with individuals, families, and business owners across a variety of tax situations.

You will play an integral role in preparing returns, identifying planning opportunities, and helping clients make thoughtful, proactive tax decisions.

Outside of peak tax season, the role will transition into our wealth management practice, where you'll have the opportunity to apply your tax knowledge within the broader context of a client's financial life. You'll support financial planning initiatives, collaborate with advisors on client strategies, and develop experience across areas of comprehensive wealth management.

This structure is intentionally designed to offer something different from a traditional tax position: year-round employment, benefits, a more balanced seasonal workload, and the opportunity to expand your expertise beyond tax compliance into comprehensive financial planning.

We're looking for someone who already has a strong foundation in tax and is excited by the opportunity to broaden their skill set. Prior wealth management experience is not required. We'll provide the training and support needed to develop that side of your expertise.

Your Role & Responsibilities

You will contribute to tax preparation, proactive planning, client service, and accounting support for individuals, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations, including but not limited to:

Tax Preparation & Planning
  • Prepare individual income tax returns, including 1040 returns
  • Prepare business and nonprofit tax returns, including 1120S, 1065, and 990 returns
  • Develop proactive tax planning strategies for individuals, small businesses, and nonprofit clients
  • Research tax issues and recommend practical, client-focused solutions
  • Review tax information, workpapers, returns, and planning recommendations for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client needs
  • Identify tax planning opportunities, open questions, or areas requiring additional review before client meetings or filing deadlines
Client Service & Relationship Management
  • Meet directly with clients to review returns, discuss planning opportunities, and answer tax-related questions
  • Build lasting client relationships through responsive, thoughtful, and professional communication
  • Document client discussions, planning priorities, follow-up items, and next steps in internal systems
  • Track client document requests, deadlines, open items, and tax season follow-through
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional client service and keep priorities moving forward
  • Help ensure client deliverables are organized, accurate, polished, and prepared in a timely manner
Accounting, Bookkeeping, & Practice Support
  • Perform accounting and bookkeeping services for clients as needed
  • Assist clients with QuickBooks Online and support related accounting questions
  • Maintain accurate client records, digital documentation, tax files, notes, and internal tracking tools
  • Support technology adoption, workflow improvements, and practice management processes as assigned
  • Use modern tax, office, and client service tools to support efficient, accurate work
  • Contribute to a collaborative, dependable, detail-oriented, and client-focused team environment
