Job summary

Wertz & Associates in Dublin, Ohio is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our growing tax practice. This role blends compliance work with proactive planning and client advisory opportunities.

You will work with business owners and executives, mentor junior staff, and advance toward Tax Supervisor and Manager roles in a flexible, people-first culture. The position offers a base salary of $80,000–$105,000 with a performance bonus, CPA support, and a hybrid work environment that supports

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Eligible to sit for the CPA Exam.
  • 3–5+ years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for business and individual clients.
  • Analyze client financial information and supporting documentation.
  • Identify book-to-tax differences and prepare supporting workpapers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations and filing requirements.
  • Manage engagement timelines and project deadlines.
  • Assist engagement leaders with proactive tax planning strategies.
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and areas of potential risk.
  • Support tax projections, estimated payments, and planning engagements.
  • Research tax matters and communicate findings effectively.
  • Help clients navigate changing tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and planning opportunities.
  • Respond to client inquiries and assist with notices or compliance matters.
  • Deliver exceptional client service and responsiveness.
  • Support year-round advisory discussions.
  • Review work prepared by Associates.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance.
  • Assist with staff development and training initiatives.
  • Coordinate engagement workflows and project completion.
  • Help develop future leaders within the tax practice.
