H&R Block, Inc. in Patchogue, NY is seeking a year-round Block Advisor to serve as Tax Advisor, preparing accurate returns for diverse clients and guiding them through complex tax situations using our training and technology.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience with complex individual and business returns, tax planning, audit support, and tax notices.
• Experience in client-facing, consultative roles.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Must meet continuing education and IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse tax situations.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financials and tax implications—then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products and services.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
