Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Tax Advisor who will prepare complex tax returns for individuals and businesses, conduct client interviews, and offer personalized recommendations. This in‑person, local Block Advisors role emphasizes building lasting client relationships and identifying savings opportunities.

You will work with a team to deliver accurate results, provide IRS support, and ensure compliance with continuing education requirements.

Qualifications

Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including tax planning and audit support.
Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations.
Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications; provide recommendations.
Build long-term client relationships with empathetic, consultative service and identify tax savings opportunities.
Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive client-focused office environment.
