Job summary

TEEMA Group in Anchorage, Alaska, seeks a Senior Engineer (Tailings and Closure) to lead RTFE activities and shape closure strategies across US tailings facilities. You will oversee dam safety, surveillance evolution, and long-term performance objectives.

The role requires a geotechnical/mining background, 10+ years in tailings or closure, and a track record managing external consultants with strong regulatory knowledge and safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Environmental, Geological, or Mining Engineering.
• 10+ years in geotechnical, tailings, environmental, or mining engineering.
• Experience leading tailings facilities from operation to closure.
• Experience with data analysis, surveillance and monitoring systems, dam safety inspections.
• Experience leading external consultants and contractors.
• Understanding tailings governance and dam safety practices; RTFE role.
• Knowledge of US regulatory requirements (OSHA, CERCLA, RCRA, state programs).
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER preferred; PE registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as RTFE for tailings facilities across the U.S. portfolio.
• Lead tailings closure design strategies for Pend Oreille Mine.
• Provide geotechnical leadership for tailings and water-retaining structures.
• Lead dam safety inspections and governance reviews.
• Prepare technical and regulatory reports; manage contractors.
• Identify tailings and environmental risks; maintain risk registers.
