Job summary

General Dynamics - IT is seeking a Systems Specialist to support, maintain, and improve IT systems and infrastructure. You will focus on system administration, troubleshooting, and user support, ensuring servers, applications, and related technologies are secure and performing optimally.

You will work closely with help desk, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve issues, implement changes, and support ongoing projects, with a Monday-Friday shift, on-site in Annapolis Junction, MD. U.S.

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree required in a relevant field.
• 8+ years of experience in IT systems administration.
• Experience with Windows and Linux server administration.
• Familiarity with Active Directory and identity/access management.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud services (Azure/AWS/M365).
• Strong Troubleshooting across OS, apps, and basic networking.
• Knowledge of backup/restore and disaster recovery concepts.
• Understanding security best practices and patch management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, manage, and maintain servers, OS, and key applications.
• Apply patches and configuration changes per change management.
• Perform routine health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
• Provide advanced technical support for escalated issues.
• Diagnose and resolve system, application, and network problems.
• Assist with user account management, permissions, and access controls.
• Install, configure, and deploy new systems, applications, and tools.
• Assist in system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and standards.
• Ensure systems adhere to security policies and controls.
• Respond to alerts and outages with root-cause analysis.
• Prepare reports on system health and improvements.
