nou Systems, Inc. seeks a Senior Systems Security Engineer to lead the integration of security into the engineering of complex mission systems.

You will translate protection needs into requirements, shape architectures, and develop evidence to support confidence in system security throughout the lifecycle. The candidate will work across hardware, software, test, safety, and program teams, applying independent engineering judgment and communicating risks to leadership.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in systems security engineering or security architecture for complex systems.
• Apply NIST SP 800-160 Volume 1 SSE lifecycle processes.
• Experience developing verifiable requirements, architecture descriptions, interface specs, analyses.
• Understanding of trust boundaries, security mechanisms, threat analyses, and system elements.
• Lead technical work independently and communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Degree in systems engineering, electrical/computer engineering, CS, cybersecurity, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead integration of security into engineering of mission systems across hardware, software, and networks.
• Define objectives, allocate requirements to elements, and ensure traceability.
• Develop and evaluate security architectures and designs with system boundaries and trust.
• Apply secure design principles and document rationale for protection decisions.
• Perform threat and vulnerability analyses and recommend mitigations.
• Guide implementation, review supplier deliverables, and preserve security properties.
• Develop verification strategies and acceptance criteria for security.
• Maintain security assurance cases linking claims to evidence.
• Integrate security into plans, reviews, and configuration management.
• Support secure transitions, operation, and disposal; mentor others.
• Establish reusable SSE artifacts and review practices.
