Job summary

Global Connect Technologies in Illinois is seeking a systems engineer to own requirements development for automotive ECUs, drive traceability from customer needs through design and validation, and coordinate across software, hardware, and validation teams.

You will support ASPICE and ISO 26262 activities, perform HIL/SIL testing, manage requirements with DOORS, Jama, Jira, and EA/MagicDraw, and contribute to a robust Requirements Management process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field and 4+ years automotive systems experience.
• Experience developing and managing system/software requirements for automotive ECUs or vehicle functions.
• Strong understanding of requirements traceability, verification, validation, and change management.
• Hands-on experience with DOORS, Jama, Jira, Enterprise Architect, or MagicDraw.

Responsibilities

• Capture and translate needs into clear, testable system requirements.
• Define and maintain end-to-end requirements traceability from customer needs to design, verification, and validation.
• Lead requirements development, impact analysis, change management, and configuration control.
• Support architecture, integration, verification, and validation across automotive platforms and ECUs.
• Author and review requirements, verification criteria, test plans, and validation docs.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, validation, and safety teams to ensure alignment.
• Support ASPICE and ISO 26262 activities, including ASIL-related requirements.
• Perform system integration testing, troubleshooting, and RCA in HIL/SIL environments.
• Manage requirements in DOORS, Jama, Jira, Enterprise Architect, and MagicDraw.

Job description

• Capture business, customer, and stakeholder needs and translate them into clear, testable system and software requirements.
• Define, manage, and maintain end-to-end requirements traceability from customer requirements through design, implementation, verification, and validation.
• Lead system requirements development, impact analysis, change management, and configuration control activities.
• Support system architecture, integration, verification, and validation efforts across automotive platforms and ECU-based systems.
• Author and review system requirements, verification criteria, test plans, and validation documentation.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, validation, and functional safety teams to ensure requirements alignment and successful product delivery.
• Support ASPICE-compliant development processes and ISO 26262 Functional Safety activities, including ASIL-related requirements.
• Perform system integration testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis using HIL/SIL environments.
• Manage requirements within tools such as DOORS, Jama, Jira, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, and related systems engineering platforms.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities and requirements lifecycle management.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of automotive systems engineering, requirements engineering, or validation experience.
• Experience developing and managing system and software requirements for automotive products, ECUs, controllers, or vehicle functions.
• Strong understanding of requirements traceability, verification, validation, and change management processes.
• Hands-on experience with IBM DOORS, DOORS DNG, Jama, or comparable requirements management tools.
• Knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, vehicle diagnostics, and automotive communication architectures.
• Experience supporting system integration testing, HIL/SIL validation, and issue resolution.
• Familiarity with UML, SysML, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, or related modeling tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Functional Safety (ISO 26262), ASIL requirements, and safety lifecycle processes.
• Knowledge of ASPICE development methodologies.
• Experience supporting ADAS, powertrain, body electronics, latches, battery management systems, radar, autonomous vehicle systems, or vehicle controllers.
• Experience working with global automotive OEMs such as Ford, Stellantis, GM, Ravian, Aurora, Bosch, or tier-one suppliers.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across software, hardware, testing, and program management teams.
