Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer - SME Telecommunications Team West to guide and perform hands-on work for NAS integration. You will lead fiber/IP migrations, design and test IP network solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across aviation, engineering, and data systems.

The role requires mentoring field teams, ensuring reliable upgrades, and delivering performance analyses to drive mission success within FAA programs.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or 4 additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
• 12+ years hands-on experience in telecommunications network engineering, circuit integration, or infrastructure planning.
• Deep knowledge of BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and IPv6 for telecom infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with optical networking (fiber) and telecom hardware deployments.
• Ability to model network growth and optimize capacity during large-scale upgrades.
• Experience with NAS ground networks and air-to-ground technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, integration, and testing of NAS-supporting systems; translate early drawings into IP network solutions.
• Direct migration of TDM circuits to IP-based systems with smooth cutovers and validation.
• Assess requirement docs and communicate design changes to hardware and software teams.
• Provide hands-on infrastructure support with network protocols and server hardware.
• Use dashboards and KPIs to verify reliability and performance of new fiber deployments.
• Deliver clear status updates and briefings to stakeholders and leadership.
