Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Systems Engineering Manager for the Second Target Station (STS) project. This role leads the systems engineering and integration for a $2B DOE project, coordinating across engineering disciplines and ensuring adherence to DOE, ES&H, and QA requirements.

You will mentor cross-disciplinary teams, drive design maturity, and represent Systems Engineering at reviews and technical forums while aligning with ORNL's core values of Impact, Integrity,

Qualifications

• BS degree in a science or engineering related field.
• At least 12 years of engineering experience, including proven success in managing engineering or physics teams and design integration for complex first-of-a-kind equipment.
• Experience coordinating technical work with sponsors, vendors, partners, and project team members.
• Must be available for some domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate systems engineering and integration across the STS project.
• Develop and enforce engineering policies, procedures, and standards.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate specifications across system boundaries.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and mentor staff.
• Represent Systems Engineering at reviews, conferences, and oversight bodies.
• Ensure ES&H and QA requirements are integrated into design decisions.
• Participate in project risk management and Change Control Board processes.
• Establish CAD standards and configuration management.
• Deliver mission alignment with ORNL values and promote equal opportunity.
