Job summary

AeroVironment Lead Systems Engineer position in the United States requires steering requirements management, architecture, interface control, and verification planning for complex, multi-disciplinary systems. You will work with mechanical, electrical, software, optical, and RF teams to integrate subsystems and manage technical risks.

Responsibilities include ICDs, system architectures, trade studies, test planning, and cross‑functional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Typically 8+ years of relevant engineering experience with systems engineering responsibility.
• 2+ years in a technical lead or team lead role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, decompose, and manage system requirements from customer needs through verification.
• Define and document ICDs for mechanical, electrical, optical, RF, and data interfaces.
• Create system architectures, trade studies, and functional decompositions to optimize performance vs cost.
• Lead reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and drive risk management and change control.
