Job summary

Peraton in McLean, VA is seeking a Systems Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph to join a SETA mission-support team for a Virginia-based customer.

You will guide development across the system life cycle, conduct design reviews, and advise on engineering best practices, system design, and test plans. The role emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders and multiple fast-paced projects.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years experience; or Master’s with 6+ years; or PhD with 3+ years.
• Minimum of 2+ years in engineering-related mission services (cyber, comms, supply chain, asset tracking, or deep-sea comms).
• Experience designing and modifying end-to-end systems through life cycle.
• Experience in design reviews.
• SETA experience.
• Strong written, communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to brief complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-starter able to lead parts of complex technical developments.
• Willingness to travel and work on multiple fast-paced projects.
• Comfortable working in dynamic team environment.
• Familiarity with USPACOM region beneficial; cultural competency required.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, evaluates, and modifies end-to-end systems through their life cycle.
• Generates quantifiable requirements from customer description and design.
• Ensures requirements comply with client and government standards via verification.
• Translates strategies into system requirement specifications and works with teams.
• Establishes and coordinates development standards and procedures.
• Designs interfaces and integrates system elements.
• Assesses performance using technical performance measures.
• Serves as customer liaison for business development and requirements shaping.
• Participates in system conceptual design and documentation.
• Translates high level product strategies into system requirements and works with multi-discipline teams.
• Generates system-level verification and acceptance tests.
• Reviews test plans and procedures to ensure objectives are met; participates in testing.
• Coordinates with partners to develop technical tools for mission needs.
• Identifies risks and mitigations; assesses vulnerabilities and gaps.
• Evaluates emerging technologies for operational needs.
• Assesses key vulnerabilities and mitigations.
• Evaluates development compliance with requirements.
• Integrates, tests, verifies, and validates end-to-end systems.
