Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in multidisciplinary systems engineering, prototype development, or applied research.
• Experience with Class II or Class III medical devices, surgical robotics, navigation, or digital surgery is preferred.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, software/firmware development, electromechanical systems, sensing technologies, or controls is a plus.
• Strong systems engineering, requirements, demonstration planning, and technical documentation skills.
• Familiarity with prototyping tools and scripting languages (Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB) is a plus.
• Excellent technical writing and demonstration reporting skills.
• Strong hands-on mindset and collaboration.
• Ability to assist in tests and accurately recording results.
• Proficiency in statistical methods for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive system definition and demonstration strategy for advanced technology prototypes.
• Develop and document prototype requirements from hypotheses and user needs.
• Collaborate across R&D, clinical, quality, regulatory, and engineering disciplines.
• Work hands-on with prototypes, demonstration setups, and experimental platforms.
• Develop prototype system architectures integrating external technologies and subsystems.
• Apply risk-based engineering to identify hazards and gaps.
• Define system behaviors, demonstration scenarios, and acceptance criteria.
• Plan and execute feasibility studies for foundational technologies.
• Lead technical reviews of prototypes and options.
• Define prototype interfaces for compatibility and safe integration.
• Apply experimental design and data-driven evaluation.
• Characterize prototype performance and failure modes.
• Support feasibility results documentation and risk assessments.
• Investigate prototype anomalies and perform root cause analysis.
• Assist in verification/characterization tests as needed.
• Coordinate cadaveric specimen testing with Project Manager.
• Operate in fast-paced agile environment.
• Support advanced technology planning and prototype build plans.
• Prepare and deliver prototype demonstrations for stakeholders.
• Support VoC activities by preparing prototypes and capturing feedback.
