Job summary

RTX is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer – Responsible Systems Engineer for our Tucson, AZ team. The role focuses on updating and maintaining system and subsystem requirements, and leading verification activities across the lifecycle to ensure first-time correctness.

You will collaborate with Systems and Hardware teams, Chief Engineer, and IPTLs, while driving reviews and mentoring junior engineers in a high‑stakes defense program.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of five (5) years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in at least one of: systems software, firmware, hardware, requirements, integration, and/or test.
• Experience in test planning, verification of system requirements and/or system qualification.
• Active and transferable Top Secret Security Clearance is required prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Lead effort to update and maintain all system and subsystem level requirements specifications.
• SE technical lead for verification and validation efforts, ensuring all requirements are assessed during Verification and Qualification Testing.
• SE technical lead, working closely with Systems and Hardware IPTLs and Chief Engineer on program tasks.
• Lead Systems Verification Reviews with Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, and IPT Leadership.
• Become the knowledgeable and 'go-to' Systems Engineer for the program.
• Help onboard new team members, mentor, and guide them using core Systems Engineering skills.
