Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer — Product Owner to drive the backlog for Agile teams within the Leidos Common Automation Platform. Based in a hybrid role, you will collaborate with architects, stakeholders, and DevSecOps to translate mission needs into prioritized work for the program.

You will work in a highly regulated environment, ensuring compliance with FAA standards and safety-critical requirements, while leveraging AI-assisted development practices to modernize real-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 6+ years of relevant experience
• Experience and familiarity with Agile methodology, principles, and tools
• Experience in the role of Agile Product Owner, owning and prioritizing the product backlog and defining backlog items
• Ability to decompose complex requirements into testable work items with clear acceptance criteria
• Strong understanding of disciplined engineering processes and attention to detail
• Past experience writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software or scripts
• Experience with design of cloud-based systems
• Experience engaging customers to understand needs and manage expectations
• Experience in SAFe environments with PI planning and cross-team coordination
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and U.S. citizenship
• Successful completion of background investigations as required by government customers

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritize the backlog for one or more Agile teams, sequencing work based on stakeholder needs and program priorities
• Review program requirements, system specs, and FAA standards to extract intent and acceptance criteria
• Decompose platform and mission needs into testable features and stories with acceptance criteria
• Maintain traceability from requirements to verification evidence for compliance
• Engage stakeholders to identify use cases aligned with operations and validation readiness
• Define PI objectives, participate in PI planning and backlog refinement
• Communicate design decisions, trade-offs, and risk assessments with release notes
• Prepare and review technical docs including use cases and interface definitions
• Coordinate with Release Train Engineer, Product Management, and Test & Evaluation for dependencies
• Lead and participate in structured reviews and inspections
