Job summary

Leidos seeks a Senior Systems Engineer - Product Owner to lead backlog and translate mission needs into testable work within a SAFe agile program for the L-CAP platform. You’ll collaborate with architects, stakeholders, and DevSecOps to deliver timely capabilities in a safety-critical environment.

The role focuses on real-time, AI-augmented software development for national air traffic operations, requiring cloud experience, strong communication, and the ability to obtain a Public Trust

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience and familiarity with Agile methodology, principles, and tools.
• Experience in the role of Agile Product Owner, including backlog ownership and item definition.
• Demonstrated ability to decompose complex requirements into testable items with clear acceptance criteria.
• Strong understanding of disciplined engineering processes and attention to detail.
• Past exposure to writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software or scripts.
• Experience with the design of cloud-based systems.
• Experience engaging customers to understand needs and manage expectations.
• Experience working within a Scaled Agile (SAFe) organization.

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritize the backlog for one or more Agile teams, sequencing work based on stakeholder needs and program priorities.
• Review program requirement documents, system specifications, and FAA standards to extract intent and acceptance criteria.
• Decompose high-level needs into testable capabilities with clear acceptance criteria.
• Maintain traceability from requirements through verification evidence for compliance.
• Engage stakeholders to identify use cases aligned with operational workflows and validation readiness.
• Define team PI objectives and participate in PI planning and backlog refinement.
• Communicate design decisions, performance trade-offs, and risk assessments with each release.
• Prepare and review technical documentation including use cases and interface definitions.
• Coordinate with Release Train Engineer, Product Management, systems engineering, and Test to align delivery milestones.
• Lead and participate in structured reviews and inspections.
