Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Agile development team in support of FAA modernization initiatives. You will serve as the dedicated systems engineer for an Agile/SAFe program, ensuring regulatory and operational requirements are traceable, testable, and fully understood by cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, systems engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience, or Master's with 6+ years.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience across the system development lifecycle: requirements, decomposition, traceability, integration, verification.
• Strong discipline in engineering processes in regulated environments.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and stakeholders.
• Experience documenting technical artifacts and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review FAA requirement documents, advisory circulars, and regulations to extract intent, constraints, interfaces, and acceptance criteria.
• Translate regulatory requirements into detailed, testable system requirements, features, and acceptance criteria for Agile development.
• Refine backlog items with Product Owners and teams to clarify system behaviors and traceability.
• Engage with stakeholders to identify use cases aligned with workflows and validation readiness.
• Decompose requirements into capability statements with measurable performance criteria and FAA compliance traceability.
• Maintain requirements traceability across stakeholders, architecture, tasks, and verification.
• Support design discussions by evaluating approaches, documenting trade-offs, and risks.
• Prepare and review system specifications, interfaces, use cases, workflows, verification plans, and traceability matrices.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical reviews, and system inspections.
• Coordinate with software, test, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps to implement and validate system requirements.
• Assist in defining verification and validation strategies including demonstrations and integration testing.
• Communicate design decisions and risk assessments for governance.
