Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer in Indianapolis to lead systems engineering activities for DoD programs. You will develop requirements, models, and verification plans, working across disciplines to ensure compliance with the V-model lifecycle and MBSE practices.

The role demands a degree in a STEM field with extensive experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to coordinate across teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in a STEM discipline and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience in software requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
• Experience with the full systems engineering lifecycle (V-model), including writing and executing system qualification tests.
• Knowledge of the software lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, test, and configuration management.
• Security clearance (DoD Secret) with U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document requirements and interfaces, perform system design analysis, modeling, and simulation.
• Conduct system integration and conduct trade studies.
• Coordinate with a cross‑discipline team to meet customer and mission planning requirements.
• Support Statement of Work compliance by developing, documenting, and executing system verification activities.
• Integrate software and hardware subsystems and follow a structured, data‑driven approach to problem solving.
• Contribute to the completion of project and program milestones.
• Adhere to established systems engineering processes and procedures to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across all project activities.
• Provide input and guidance to lower‑level engineers with tasks and assignments, analyze data, communicate results, and manage tasks and/or projects.
